Square Enix Seeking Level Planner for Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remake Development Details Revealed In New Job Posting

Square Enix is looking for level planners for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake. The news stems from a job posting that the company recently posted.

Here are the highlights of the posting according to Siliconera:

  • A major project of fully remaking Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation 4.
  • Can work in the best development environment!
  • Gain experience in a flat organization, use your talents to your heart’s content.
  • Recruiting core members for the project!
  • Work on a big title for a chance to help your career!
  • Enjoy flexibility with discretionary work system and good benefits.

The job posting sheds light on the progress of the game. Square Enix states that general functions and contents are currently being tested, and that they are working on bringing graphics up another step in quality. The game uses the Unreal 4 engine, which is also being used for the company’s other upcoming AAA title, Kingdom Hearts 3.

Square Enix also assures that they are not looking for a last minute replacement to deal with work volume. Instead, the new addition will work on various levels in the game and generate ideas for how to utilize characters within them.

In addition, those unfamiliar with Final Fantasy VII are encouraged to apply. Since it has been so long since the release of the game, many developers (including current Square Enix employees) know of popular characters like Cloud and Sephiroth without having experienced the game.

At the recent Final Fantasy “Farewell Stories” Exhibition in Tokyo, which celebrated the series’ 30th anniversary, many of the game’s new character designs we displayed. Fans claim that Cloud, Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie’s designs were altered.

The release date for the Final Fantasy VII Remake still hasn’t been confirmed. However, the game will be released in multiple episodes, with the first likely to hit the PlayStation 4 before any other medium.
