EA DICE Is Completely Changing Star Wars Battlefront II Progression

We’re Looking at a Very Different Star Wars Battlefront II

Today, the developers of Star Wars Battlefront II announced some changes to the game’s multiplayer progression system. The return of microtransactions also brings a simpler manner of gaining loot, one that doesn’t affect gameplay. Here’s what we know.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

One of the most important updates: new weapons will be made available as players level up and will not rely on RNG. This keeps the progression linear and fair for all players. That is to say, loot boxes, or Crates, will no longer give players any sort of combat advantage. Items acquired will solely hinge on playtime. Additionally, leveling up will gain players skill points toward unlocking and upgrading star cards.

Star Wars Battlefront II will still contain loot boxes, but they shall only contain cosmetic items. The only means of obtaining loot boxes is via timed challenges, login bonuses, and the completion of milestones. Players will find harmless drops like emotes, and victory poses. And speaking of cosmetics, skins will be purchasable starting next month.Whether it’s in-game currency or virtual Crystals, you shall be able to purchase skins for your troops and heroes.

The new progression system for Star Wars Battlefront II will launch on March 21st. Everything players have earned in the game thus far will remain theirs to keep. Look forward to the purchasable skins later, as well as new game modes that DICE is excited to reveal. According to the developer, they will be “radically different from anything seen before.”

While EA”s initial sales for the game proved dismal compared to their projections, perhaps the overhauled progression system will justify a purchase of Star Wars Battlefront II? Time will tell. Stay tuned for updates.
