Call of Duty: Black Ops IV Coming This Year, New Sources Confirm

Black Ops Iv Will Be Less Sci-Fi Than the Last

Patterns already dictated that a new Treyarch Call of Duty would arrive this year. As mentioned in our most recent report, Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward have had their turns. Of course, no one really knew if the next installment would be another Black Ops. New sources have corroborated the story to Eurogamer, however. Call of Duty: Black Ops IV is coming this year.

Word of another Black Ops stemmed from one self-proclaimed “industry insider,” Marcus Sellars. In a series of tweets, he declared that Call of Duty Black Ops IV will arrive this year; moreover, it’s being ported to the Nintendo Switch. According to Sellars, the Switch port is being handled by a dev company that’s “familiar” with the property. Vicarious Visions, anyone?

The new sources also stated that the next Black Ops would, like WWII, follow traditional COD design. Basically, more boots on the ground and fewer exo-suits. This may be a relief to many fans since, as indicated by Call of Duty WWII’s sales number spike over Infinite Warfare, a return to traditional COD is preferred.

The only rumor pertaining to Black Ops IV that hasn’t been corroborated is the Switch port. Even so, it would be downright strange if Activision was not working on a port for the hybrid console, considering its popularity. Furthermore, it seems like a good opportunity for Activision and Nintendo to recommence profitable relations. We’ll see.
