Monster Hunter World Ships 5-Million Units in 3 Days, Beating records

The Fastest-Selling Monster Hunter

Immediately before and after its launch last Friday, Monster Hunter World has served the hottest topic of gaming. Its arrival to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One represents the franchise’s revival on console, and after just a few days, Capcom is reporting 5-million units shipped.

Monster Hunter World’s 5-million shipped units makes it the fastest-selling game in the franchise. The series began with the first-ever Monster Hunter in 2004, and the numbers never quite reached what they have in the last three days. The number of copies sold includes both physical retail and digital download.

Since Monster Hunter World sold so well in such a short time, the future of this installment looks bright. Capcom designed the title with both east and west in mind, discovering ways to streamline the experience. Hence, this was always meant to be the biggest launch for the western hemisphere. Hence, it could be the IPs biggest game ever. For the majority of its lifespan, the franchise has revolved around a devout following yet never managed to break into the mainstream. By the look of things, that’s about to happen. We’ll have a concrete number of units sold by the end of the week.

With January void of any major AAA releases, with the exception of Dragon Ball FighterZ, the month was apparently ripe for Monster Hunter World’s big debut. Find it today for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and expect the PC version to arrive this Fall. In related news, if you’re experiencing matchmaking issues on Xbox One, Capcom has responded and is looking into the issue. Stay tuned.

Happy gaming.
