Because the Full Game Isn’t Being Split up to Get More Money out of You
If you want more from the games you love, you buy the Season Pass. It’s why fans took to Twitter to ask God of War 4 director Cory Barlog if there would be one. But it looks like the PS4 exclusive is coming out of the gate without any post-game DLC in mind.
Despite the confirmation that there’s no God of War 4 Season Pass at launch, Barlog did affirm that the game is still fantastic.
No season pass. As for the story questions – you will have to wait and play the game to see how it all shakes out. I just finished another play-through last night around midnight and it was still awesome! I’m totally biased, though.

With no Season Pass available at launch, it doesn’t mean Sony Santa Monica wouldn’t cook something up later down the line. Horizon: Zero Dawn, developer Guerrilla Games had to wait for the game to do well in the market before Sony gave the green light for a DLC. Thus, we have The Frozen Wilds. We may see something similar, where God of War 4 is concerned, but only time will tell. No matter what, we’re still getting over 20—perhaps over 30—hours of gameplay as Barlog revealed this past PSX.
However, if you’re really looking for some extra God of War, you can scout the Stone Mason’s Edition that was recently revealed. It includes a lithograph, a map, a big ol’ statue, and extra in-game content. Get it on the day of release, which has yet to be announced. You can check back for updates as they come.
Happy gaming.
