Detective Pikachu Is Finally Coming to the West with a New amiibo

This Pikachu Talks but Doesn’t Say “Pikapi”

For those of you who’ve been waiting, it’s finally happening. Today, The Pokemon Company announced the release date for Detective Pikachu in the west. Finally, it won’t just be Japan who gets to solve cases with the world’s best electric rodent.

Detective Pikachu will arrive on March 23rd, 2018, and will arrive for the Nintendo 3DS. But, what exactly does the game entail? Well, a brief synopsis was released and is available below.

“Take the role of young Tim Goodman and explore with his talkative partner Pikachu in the action-adventure game Detective Pikachu […] Tim and this gruff, coffee-drinking Pikachu have teamed up to investigate the disappearance of Tim’s father. Look for clues, talk to witnesses, and uncover the secrets of Ryme City!”

However, the announcement of Detective Pikachu for the west means more goodies. Specifically, we’re getting more amiibo. Along with a release date, The Pokemon Company unveiled a limited-edition, jumbo Pikachu wearing his detective hat. When used with the game, it unlocks special videos with hints for your investigation. Unlike the game, this amiibo doesn’t have a release date yet. But, expect updates as we near release.
