Ninjas Saving Lives, What a Time to be Alive
Riding high on the success of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory has decided to give a little back to the community with a sizable donation to a prominent mental health charity. This week, Ninja Theory donated almost $80,000 USD to Rethink Mental Awareness, a mental health charity based out of the UK.
The money in question was raised through sales of Hellblade during World Mental Health Day on October 10th. The donation is enough for the employment of at least a couple of full-time employees at their advice and information hotline, an essential service for those newly-diagnosed with mental illness.
For those of you confused as to why on earth a game company would be working with a mental health organization, Hellblade stars a young woman in the grips of a very serious mental illness. For gamers struggling with their own mental health, a main protagonist afflicted in this manner is a rare moment of kinship in a medium mostly devoid of such things. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is available now on PC and PS4.
