Xbox One System Update in Preview Fixes Bugs

Welcome Fixes in the New Xbox One System Update

Being in a Beta always has its perks and drawbacks. This time, it looks like Beta players are ahead of the curve in terms of a fix to Xbox’s Dashboard rearranging. The new Xbox One system update is for preview users ONLY at this time, with no word when the rest of us will be sprinkled with the fixes. The update was rolled out yesterday. Details on the software update are as follows:

Xbox One System update

OS version released: rs2_release_xbox_1705.170505-1900

Available: 2:00PM PDT 5/7 (9:00PM GMT 7/5)

FIXES:

Games and Apps

Fixed an issue which could cause games and apps to sort alphabetically when using “Sort by last used” or “Sort by last update”.

Certain games should no longer appear in the Apps section while they are installing.

Resolved an issue which could sometimes cause uninstalled games to display as installed in the Games category.

Localization

Miscellaneous localization fixes and improvements.

Tournaments

Fixed an issue which could sometimes prevent users from participating in Tournaments.

From the details, this looks like the beginning of a series of patches. No features were added or refined, it was simply fixes for minor errors that would annoy players. There are a few breaking fixes with the Games and Apps and Tournaments fixes, but that’s about it.

There is definitely room for improvement with Xbox’s sidebar navigation, and ease of use. That Home screen with the blurbs about each app is way too long and inundated with advertisements (if you’re playing Sniper Elite 3, you get to hear all about Sniper Elite 4) It’s safe to say Microsoft has hear a litany of complaints from the gamer base, but an answer has yet to be heard.
