According to GameStop Nintendo Switch Shipments are Selling Out on the Same Day

Nintendo Switch Success Addressed

According to an article by Forbes, GameStop has discussed the success of the Nintendo Switch since its release in March, stating that even now, they are seeing same-day sellouts for each shipment received. As we told you last month it is reported that the Nintendo Switch sold over 2.4 million in the first month, so the news of these quick sell outs is not hard to imagine!

In order to keep up with this demand, Nintendo has even had to spend more on shipping, sending the consoles via plane, instead of regular freight shipping. The senior director of merchandising at GameStop, Eric Bright, talked about the Switch’s success stating, “It’s exceeding our expectations. We knew it would be a high-demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours…the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them.”

On top of the change in method of shipping, Nintendo also doubled production of the Switch after launch, however Nintendo has still been unable to keep up with the demand. It seems the company is focusing on trying to meet the popularity of the console, with a plan to ship another 10 million units over the next year, until March 18th of 2018! Eric Bright talked about this popularity saying, “Right now we’re not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time.” This of course could also be due to the huge titles for the console, mainly Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!
