Yandere Simulator Developer Talks Character Model Inspiration from Recent JRPGs Like Persona 5 and Blue Reflection
Today, Yandere Simulator developer dipped into deep thoughts about the art direction for the upcoming mock-Japanese role-playing game in a video by the Yandere Dev himself. In the video, he talks about the recent release of games based around high school settings such as Persona 5 and Blue Reflection. To put it quite frankly, these games have set a new standard for the RPG genre, and the head Yandere Developer feels as if his character models are lacking much-needed flare.
JRPG characters are extremely dynamic, with less realistic features and more fabricated body elaborations, such as longer necks and legs. He points out that the character models in Yandere Dev go as far as to even completely lack necks if viewed from certain camera angles. JRPG character models also have the ability to create a wider range of facial expressions, something that Yandere Simulator characters are completely void of, and cites Danganronpa and Persona 5 as examples of face models that could work out in Yandere Simulator‘s favor.

After the team wraps up working on the rival Osana’s bitter end, they plan to launch another Kickstarter to aid Yandere Simulator in looking more stylized and having more customizable features.
