NieR: Automata Surpasses One Million Digital and Shipped Sales

Vindication for a Game that is Insightfully Unique and Action-packed

NieR: Automata is a game that launched for PS4 and PC last month. While it is technically a sequel for Platinum Games’ NIER, the game retains wholly unique action, style, and RPG elements. Nearly one month later, publisher Square Enix is happy to announce that the game has exceeded one million sales.

NieR: Automata trailer

In many ways, NieR: Automata still remains obscure. You play as characters 2B, 9S, and A2 in a gambit to save the world. As androids developed with unique skills for warfare, you lie at the vanguard of an escalating war against machines. With multiple combat styles, big bosses, and high-octane combat at 60 frames per second, it is no wonder the game has been successful.

Furthermore, NieR’s opening to critical acclaim must have provided a sale boost for the game. So far, it is clear that Platinum Games as not lost their luster in developing unique titles. Unfortunately, fate steered them away from developing yet another one in Xbox Exclusive Scalebound. On that note, developers still haven’t declared any intention to release NieR: Automata for the Xbox One. Maybe they will reconsider it for the Scorpio, the reveal of which lies closer than expected.
