Will Xbox Reveal Project Scorpio Before Their E3 Presentation?

Phil Spencer Addresses Talk of Project Scorpio Reveal

Leading up to the E3, gamers have quite a few questions about whether Xbox will fully reveal their Project Scorpio during their E3 presentation, or if they will showcase the hardware beforehand. Recently, Xbox Head, Phil Spencer, was asked if there would pre-E3 events designed for this said reveal.

For anyone that is unfamiliar with Project Scorpio, this is the set to be the newest console following the Xbox One and Xbox One S. In an interview on IGN’s Podcast Unlocked, Phil Spencer addressed these rumours. He stated, “The plan’s not completely set, just to be honest with you. I think doing everything at E3 would be difficult, but we’ll talk more about it as we kind of land exactly on what we’re gonna go do. I like our E3 show being about games. Clearly we’re gonna talk about Scorpio at E3 but I also don’t want to take up a majority of the time doing all things about hardware. So there’s a balance there. I want it [Scorpio] on stage , it’s a great opportunity for us. So you’ll hear more from us on this topic, so nothing great to share with you. But other than that, I know people want to know more specifically about what we’re doing with the hardware and I’d love to find an opportunity to do that.”

Of course this doesn’t really answer the two questions, one way or another, however it sounds like he would prefer to showcase the Scorpio hardware before their E3 presentation, in order to better focus game reveals at E3. This has been Phil Spencer’s focus of E3 since he took over as the Head of Xbox three years ago. The comments from Spencer do confirm that Project Scorpio will make an appearance at this year’s E3, although we still do not know to what extent the hardware or functionality will be discussed or announced.
