Polish Retailer Gives a Release Date for the Rockstar Games Western
It seems like only yesterday the first European retailer was accidentally giving away a release date for Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. Now, yet another store has given up a fall release date for the game.
Media Markt gave Red Dead 2 a release date of October 3rd, 2017. They even provided a hard-nosed statement confirming it as such, referring to “information the marketing department received from the distributor of the product” as evidence of the date’s accuracy. Of course, after some prodding, Media Markt gave out a second statement, asserting that they had “no confirmed release date” for the title. They even went and replaced the listing’s date with a placeholder.
This chain of events allows for two conclusions. One, they actually made an error which they rushed to correct. Two, they gave the actual date and are now covering their butts for obvious culpability reasons. The evidence can point to either possibility. The most recent retailer leak gave a similar date, that of September 26th, 2017. Whether this indicates a more or less legitimate leak is up to the reader. At this point the frequency of this problem is damning enough that one could be forgiven for believing the dates are legit.
