Halo World Championship Venue Complaints Addressed
Yesterday, Halo’s biggest event of the year, the Halo World Championship, has been met with criticism from fans arguing that the venue was anything but spectacular. Not only that, but the fans were tweeting and commenting about the lack of attendance at the event. While the tournament has a prize pool of 1 million dollar, the pictures fans were sharing told a different story.
Fans posted pictures of an empty tent and some deflated balloons which you can see below, where a conversation about the event went down like this:
“This can’t be real”
“It could be worse. The mainstage could be shared with Just Dance.”
“That is not worse than this.”
“Even the balloons look like they don’t want to be there.”
“Begging for someone to snip them loose.”

This year the Halo World Championship is being held at the ESL America Campus lot following speculation that the esports company was unable to secure its preferred venue for the event. Of course when the event location was first announced, it was met with disappointment from fans. In response to the announcement of the event, one fan stated, “EU qualifiers gets Wembley and you’re putting the actual Worlds event in a studio on the west coast.”
The complaints about the event kept rolling in, and even went as far as criticizing the food lineups, with one Tyler “Ninja” Blevins of Luminosity, a top Halo team and strong contender for the championship, tweeting that event staff were being fed before the pro players. Check out his tweet below.

Up until this point, Xbox had not hit back at these fans, but following that tweet, Greenskull defended the event as he felt the criticism was both inaccurate and misplaced. He stated that the tent that had become the focal point of the disappointment on Twitter was being used for overflow.

Greenskull also followed this up with a map of the event. Most of the pictures circulating on social media were taken in food truck alley. There are five different areas of the event, as you can see below.
There was also a video taken from a livestream on Twitch taken from the Main Stage that shows the fans are into the event, however it makes whichever room they’re in look small. Even if it appears to only be five rows deep, if the fans seem to be enjoying it, isn’t that what matters? Not to mention that it looks like there is more than enough space in the rooms throughout the event to make sure everyone had something to do.
Were some of the fans acting like spoiled brats or do you think the event was disappointing? Let us know in the comments below.
