Blizzard Entertainment Client Update Gave It a Makeover Today and with It Came a Battle.net Name Change
If you’ve logged in and updated the Battle.net client today, you might have noticed that, well, it’s not the Battle.net client anymore. Blizzard Entertainment client update version 1.8.0 rolled out for their launcher application today and with it came some rather large changes, the largest of all possibly being the Battle.net name change. Blizzard Entertainment aspires to make customers feel more at home through the update, and apparently how you do that is by changing a name that’s been around for 20 years into something more… inclusive? Something like, the Blizzard App.
Needless to say, the community has been a bit stirred up about the dramatic change to their client, but in the end, the games are all still the same so a name change won’t hurt one bit, right? Although, every time you mistakenly call the Blizzard App “Battle.net” instead, the hole in your heart where the name used to be is going to sting a little bit.
What are your thoughts about Blizzard Entertainment’s software name change? What would you have changed it to instead? Let us know in the comments below!
