PS4 4.50 Update Limited to One Hard Drive at Once

4.50 Update Doesn’t Allow for Multiple External HDDs

Beta testing for PS4’s 4.50 update is underway. According to a report from JustPushStart, the long-awaited external HDD feature is locked to a single hard drive at once.

This is something of a letdown, especially considering Xbox One allows for multiple hard drives to be used. On the one hand, the average consumer probably doesn’t need multiple drives for all of their PS4 games. On the other hand, PS4 games are really big. All modern games are! Especially AAA titles. Somewhere between 40 and 50 GB of space required, per title. Even a 2 TB hard drive doesn’t seem that big when every file is 40 GB.

The 4.50 update is still in beta, so there’s a possibility this will change. Even if it doesn’t, there’s still a glimmer of hope for gamers fighting against their ever-shrinking hard drive space. We’ll keep you up to date on any other critical details regarding the update as they’re released.
