Nintendo President: 100 Switch Titles in Development

January’s Presentation Sparked Greater Developer Interest in Switch, Nintendo President Reports

There has been a lot of talk regarding Nintendo’s approach to the Switch’s launch lineup. Some are looking at the short list of titles and concluding that Nintendo has made a grievous error. However, Nintendo has made it clear they don’t want a repeat of the Wii U’s failure. To this end, the company is choosing instead to stagger releases for a more consistent schedule over the Switch’s lifetime. Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima recently reported an increase in developer support, meaning even more companies are on board since the presentation in January.

The Nintendo President confirmed that there are over 100 Nintendo Switch titles in development from over 70 publishers, according to a report from Wccftech. Kimishima noted that they “have continued to receive requests from more and more software publishers who want to develop games for the system.” He referred to Nintendo’s original announcement about the level of third party support while reporting that support has only grown. In the weeks since the Switch presentation, the number of titles “has now climbed to over 100,” suggesting increased industry confidence in Nintendo’s newest console.

With so many more companies getting on board with the Switch, one hopes that the naysayers are wrong. It remains to be seen whether the Switch will outshine the Wii U, but at least the developers are excited. We’ll keep you posted with updates on these mysterious new titles here.
