NieR: Automata Will Let You Buy PS4 Trophies; A PlayStation First

Wait, What? NieR: Automata Lets You Buy Trophies?

NieR: Automata, developed by Square Enix and PlatinumGames will release in North America on March 7 for the PS4 and today we learned that the game appears to be introducing a brand new feature that allows users to buy Trophies. Yes, you read correctly. Granted, this has not been confirmed by Square Enix but it certainly appears this will be the case.

NieR: Automata Hero

If this turns out to be true, this will be the first time in any PlayStation game that a developer has added the option to buy Trophies. According to Reddit user youkatei, who is currently playing the Japanese version of the game, you can only buy Trophies on your third playthrough, and it’s only with in-game money, not real money.

This will come as a relief for many but it’s also managed to trigger quite a few folks. There is a huge community of competitive players that love to grind and get their hands on that elusive Platinum Trophy. While there are others who have become incredibly frustrated trying to accomplish that feat.

Keep in mind the ability to buy Trophies has not officially been confirmed by Square Enix so please take this information with a grain of salt. Still we wonder if other games will follow suit.

Story of NieR: Automata

Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing their secret weapon: the machines. In the face of this insurmountable threat, the human race is driven from the earth and takes refuge on the moon.

The humans develop an army of android soldiers to fight back against the mechanical horde, but succeed only in slowing its advance. To break the deadlock, a new breed of android infantry is sent into the fray: the YoRHa squad.

In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on. A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world…

Nier Automata launches on PS4 on March 7 in North America and March 10 in Europe.
