The Remastered Game Will Feature 4K Visuals That Some Could Call…Insane?
Too much? Well, bad puns aside, a bunch of brand new screenshots did just make their way online for Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy from Vicarious Visions and they look amazing. The screenshots are primarily from the infamous sequel, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. But they show everybody’s favorite orange marsupial in the snow, above the trees, and outrunning boulders. And needless to say, Crash is looking good. Check out the screenshots below!
There has been some discussion as to whether this upcoming remaster can be considered a true remaster. According to Vicarious Vision, much of the original code used by the Naughty Dog team 20 years ago is nearly unusable. As a result, the remake is being dubbed a “remaster plus”. This allows the team to creatively approach the idea of bringing the game back to life.
The goal is to capture the essence of Crash, while also allowing them to add some new elements to enhance the experience. Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy will host a crop of new features, including unified checkpoints, pause menus, and manual/automatic save systems. The package also features the above-mentioned 4K resolution visuals and a complete overhaul of the audio.
The trilogy bundle will include the HD remasters of the first three games in the series. This means it will include Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped. Â Although Sony has yet to announce a release date, it has been said the trilogy will ship out in 2017 with rumors citing May 2017.
