Which Raises Questions, since Doomfist Hasn’t Been Announced
There’s been speculation for months that Doomfist would be a playable character in Blizzard’s Overwatch. Most of it comes from gamers who find leisure in dissecting in-game facets. For instance, we see Doomfist’s gauntlet in the map of Numbani, as well as posters displaying three generations of heroes wielding the gauntlet. But how likely is it really?
Well, since the moment Terry Crews’s name was thrown into the mix, there have been fans advocating for his potential voice work as the fist-wielding hero. But things have escalated since Crews threw his own loud voice into the mix. He’s now, unofficially, campaigning for his role as Overwatch’s Doomfist. And he’s doing so via social media:
Who wants to hear me do the voice of Doomfist for real?? https://t.co/l4aszRrDYE

Plenty of likes and retweets say fans are on board for the muscle-bound actor’s place in the competitive FPS. A resounding ‘yes’; ‘yes, please’ even. If he’s hyping the character so much, and visiting Blizzard headquarters to boot, something has to be going on. Except, Blizzard hasn’t commented. We don’t even know that Doomfist will be playable, at this point. So is Crews just adding unnecessary fuel to the fire? Maybe not.
Besides the fact that Blizzard keeps dropping Doomfist easter eggs in trailers and maps, look at the current Overwatch roster. Out of 23 characters, Blizzard’s latest releases included Ana and Sombra, support and offense classes respectively. For the sake of game balance, a tank or defense character is likely next. Overwatch players might agree, Doomfist(if made playable) would most likely fall under the tank category. And since Blizzard has emphasized diversity in Overwatch, a male character of different ethnicity is also a likelihood. But that’s just one humble analysis.
As of right now, players can enjoy the new Oasis map just released for the game. Whether or not Terry Crews will be the Overwatch Doomfist character, whether or not Doomfist will be playable, only time will tell. It’s all in Blizzard’s hands. But when it is confirmed, we’ll let you know. Just stay updated with COGconnected. And before you go, feel free to drop a comment and share your thoughts. Happy gaming.
