Ori and the Blind Forest Dev Calls PS4 Pro “Half-assed” Next to Scorpio

Scorpio Must Be Pretty Powerful next to PS4 Pro, Cuz Them Some Fightin’ Words

You can find it all on Reddit. Thomas Mahler, a developer for Xbox One’s Ori and the Blind Forest answered a question regarding Scorpio. In sum, a user asked whether Scorpio was “next-gen.” A short answer would have been ‘yes.’ But Mahler went as far as to make his own comparison. While PS4 Pro is “kinda” half-assed, he stated that Scorpio will be truly “next-gen”; moreover, it will support current generation titles.

PS4 NEO PS4 Pro

Earlier today, we talked about leaked specs for Xbox Scorpio. We confirmed that Microsoft’s latest console would be 4.5 times more powerful than Xbox One and more. But this latest bit of news just adds fuel to the fire. Mahler basically confirmed that Scorpio will be a next generation console with backwards compatibility. While Xbox One S and PS4 Pro are ‘beefier’ versions of previous systems, Scorpio is offering something wholly new. You can even say it will be more like PCs, a comparison Mahler was keen to make.

In the same note, Mahler points out that Xbox needs to employ proper marketing. Scorpio should not be mistaken for an Xbox One ‘upgrade,’ but as its own entity that can play all our Xbox One games. All we need now is more exclusives.

Microsoft Great Moments Scorpio

2017 will be a very interesting year in which we see two console releases. And both will be completely different: one specializes in portability and one takes power to the next level. Expect to see Scorpio at this year’s E3, if not sooner. We’ll keep you updated as things move along.

In the mean time, let us know what you think of Mahler’s comments and Scorpio. Would you consider PS4 Pro a “half-assed” upgrade. We’d really like to know.
