Nintendo Switch Supports 2TB Micro SD; Console Ready for External USB Drives

Nintendo Switch Storage Capabilities Released

One of the first things that Nintendo addressed during the Nintendo Switch presentation was its price and its internal storage space. Coming in at a mere 32GB it’s safe to say that it won’t get you far. Luckily, they also noted that the space can be expanded with micro SD cards. Apart from that, we haven’t heard much more but there’s also rumblings that the new console will also be ready to plug and play with external USB drives as well.

Game Reactor Spain were at the Nintendo Switch event in London and were able to learn that the Switch will actually be able to support a whopping 2 TB with the micro SD cards. Seeing as you don’t come across 2 TB cards very often (or all that cheap) it makes a strong case that Nintendo is doing some forward thinking when it comes to their new console.

They also reported on the fact that the Nintendo Switch will eventually be ready for external USB drive support, which will have to be connected directly to the console via ports on the dock. This is some more forward thinking, however, as the option apparently won’t quite be ready at launch.

Launching on March 3rd in all markets, Nintendo gave us plenty of info to chew on as we await the release. All we know right now is that preorders are gone and the gaming community seems rather hopeful that Nintendo’s climb back into the home console market is well on its way. With games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey on the way we’re pretty hopeful that’s the case.

Keep it locked to COGconnected for anything and everything Nintendo Switch in the coming weeks and months!
