Ubisoft Changing Game Night With its multiplayer Virtual Reality Offering, Werewolves Within
Ubisoft announced this morning that Werewolves Within is out on Oculus Rift, PSVR and HTC Vive. Developed by Red Storm Entertainment, a Ubisoft studio, Werewolves Within lets you discover which of your friends is going to kill and/or eat you on the next full moon. Or maybe you’re feeling especially hungry! The possibilities are quite robust. Inspired by tabletop games of deceit such as Avalon, the game works to mimic a real-life party game experience.
Werewolves are hiding in plain sight in the small medieval town of Gallowston. Gathered around a campfire, players will need to work together to figure out who among them are the werewolves.
The game is designed for five to eight players and is cross-platform compatible. This feels like a pretty important move for any multiplayer VR game. Without this feature, the odds at present of gathering five PSVR owners for a game seems low.
To figure out which of your friends is going lupine, players will role-specific knowledge, as well as a handy guidebook filled with hints. Presumably, the consequences of failure are rather visceral.
The VR avatars will capture players’ real-life actions and body language, reflecting them through their in-game character. This is a critical step in letting you figure out whether someone is lying about their nightly routine. If you have a VR rig and four or more friends with the same, Werewolves Within is out today.
