Atlus Set to Reveal Debut Fantasy RPG From New Team Studio Zero

Atlus, the Developers of the Ever Popular Shin Megami Tensei and Persona Series, Is Set to Bring Us an All-New Fantasy RPG!

Studio Zero, the newest brainchild from the developers of Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei, are set to debut a new fantasy RPG. The Japanese magazine Famitsu announced it will have the first look at the game being announced on December 23 in a NicoNico live stream. The stream will begin at 8 pm JST and 6 am EST.

Not much is known at this time about the game. But we do know that Atlus created a brand new team for the production of this title called Studio Zero. Heading up Studio Zero is the previous director of Persona 5, Katsura Hashino. Alongside him is an impressive creative team including designer Soejima Naruki. Some of the concept art that has been revealed and it looks enchanting.

We definitely see a medieval fantasy vibe from the above character, which means we can expect to see medieval weaponry. We also note important features such as the elven ears, which helps lend credence to the idea the game will feature fantasy races. This on its own is pretty exciting, as it strays away from the modern day vibe that players receive from Persona 5.

For those of us here in the Americas, we have not yet gotten the chance to play Persona 5. The game has suffered some delays but is set to finally release in April 2017. As a result, this begs the question, when would be able to play Atlus’s upcoming fantasy game? Hopefully, we will find out on December 23rd.

Persona 5 Confidants

A formal message was issued from Studio Zero by director Katsura Hashino. In it, he stated the following: “And now, in addition to continuing the titles within those series, what will our approach to a new RPG be? That is, to challenge the norms of the genre gamers have been consuming for decades. The challenge is about to begin.”

What do you think? Are you intrigued to see what Studio Zero’s debut title will be like? Let us know in the comments!
