Mass Effect Andromeda Allows Players to Reallocate Profile Points Continuously

First things first, if you missed the new gameplay trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda from last night’s Game Awards you should probably go and watch that. We good? Ok, let’s move on! Have you ever played through an RPG making painstaking decisions on how to build your character only to realize 30 hours in that you really screwed it all up? There is an immense amount of pressure on a hardcore RPG player to make the right decisions on how to craft their character’s abilities and skills and if you happen to be an RPG gamer you know exactly what we mean. One wrong choice can lead to a world of hurt later on in the game.

For those of you who have a hard time committing you’ll be relieved to know that Bioware is going to relieve a little bit of that pressure in Mass Effect Andromeda. Seeing as mission parameters can change from mission to mission it goes without saying that the skills you want at your fingertips would vary from mission to mission as well. In a recent interview with Game Informer, producer on the game, Mike Gamble went into detail about how players will be able to switch up their profile points throughout the game without penalty.

“When you put enough points into a certain type of class, then you choose that profile and get perks. But where we’re different is that you can constantly reallocate points to different profiles. In one mission, I can be an Infiltrator. In another mission, I can be a Sentinel.”

For those of you who love to be able to switch things up this is a great addition. Of course, many of us are so used to building up our chosen class that we might not take advantage of this but having the choice is certainly nice. Fabrice Condominas, another producer on Mass Effect Andromeda noted that even though the choice is there many of us know what we want and we stick with it.

“People tend to stick to certain kinds of characters, especially in RPGs. Even without class systems, they already know what they want to do. And they can absolutely do that. I think they will play the way they want, with a couple specific, targeted tactical places where they will choose to switch.”

Mass Effect Andromeda will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this spring. Keep it locked to COGconnected for more information as we have it.
