Blizzard is Switching Up Heroes of the Storm Game Directors and Possibly Gearing Up for a New First-Person Game
Blizzard’s hit PC MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, is seeing some big changes on the inside. Leadership wise, that is. Dustin Browder, Game Director for Heroes of the Storm, is switching over to another project within the studio, and in his stead, 20-year Blizzard vet Alan Dabiri will be taking over for him.
Dabri has spent the last few months transitioning over to game director from technical director for Heroes of the Storm, and “has had a hand in nearly every aspect of Heroes since the beginning,” according to Browder. Although learning about a new game director can impose uncertain feelings among the community, Browder reassures fans that Dabri is a passionate and respectable member of the Heroes community, being active on Reddit, Blizzard’s online forums, and practically anywhere else Heroes of the Storm is being talked about. Dabiri has been working with the game for years, not only as technical director, as a key role in the team’s collaborative development process, and during that period has been relentlessly working to make the game better for players in all aspects.
Browder states that even though he will not be working with the team, that 2017 is going to be a “huge year” for Heroes of the Storm, with tons of exciting new content like heroes and battlegrounds, among other things. However, for his current project, he has nothing to say except it’s going to be an exciting chance to work on something new within the company. Although he hasn’t said anything about what this new and exciting project opportunity might be, according to job listings at Blizzard, signs point to leads that they’re working on a brand new first-person project, which will be the only other first-person project released from the studio other than Overwatch.
