Carrie Fisher Memorial Being Added to Elite: Dangerous

As fans worldwide mourn the loss of Carrie Fisher the Elite: Dangerous fanbase has requested that a tribute to the late actress be added to the game as soon as possible and publisher, Frontier Developments has been quick to respond. Executive Producer, Michael Brookes responded to requests made by the community in Elite: Dangerous’ forums saying, “Sad news indeed — a ‘Fisher’s Rest’ outpost will be added to the game in the 2.3 release.”

Back in 2015, Frontier also paid tribute to another legend of sci-fi after the passing of Leonard Nimoy, best known as Star Trek’s Spock. The developer created a planet Vulcan in Nimoy’s honor.

While the gesture may seem like a small one it’s an endearing tribute to the legacy of an actress who had a profound impact on so many. Fisher suffered a heart attack while on board a flight from London to Los Angles just before Christmas on Dec 23. While initial reports indicated that Fisher was moved from emergency to inside the hospital under stable condition it came as a surprise to many when they heard she passed in the morning hours of Dec 27. Tragically, the star’s mother Debbie Reynolds passed only days later while at her son’s house organizing the funeral plans for her daughter.
