Next Call of Duty Titled ‘Lethal Combat’ According to Rumor

The current SAG-AFTRA video game voice actor strike has inadvertently exposed a ton of games that are currently in development. A list of projects was released noting the games that actors would not be able to work on. While we wish for a speedy resolution to the voice actor’s strike it has undoubtedly been a boon for nosey gamers as we’ve discovered many as yet unannounced titles in the process with the most recent being a TellTale take on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and if the list is to be believed it looks like the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise is titled Call of Duty: Lethal Combat.

CoD Infinite Warfare HERO

According to the list, which we reported on when the strike began, the next Call of Duty, which is being developed by Sledgehammer this time around, could also be titled Call of Duty: Stronghold. This pretty obviously means that the name is up in the air still. As rumblings have surfaced around the net most people seem to agree that Stronghold comes off as more of a working title and Lethal Combat seems the most likely candidate for the final name.

Only a few months ago there were also rumors surfacing that the next CoD game would be set in the Vietnam War. Judging by the extremely positive response to EA and DICE’s WWI themed Battlefield 1 in comparison to the poorly received future combat of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (which we loved, by the way) it wouldn;t be surprising to see Activision take a step back in time. Whichever direction the franchise takes we hope that it’s a positive one. While we think that Infinite Warfare is much better than it’s sales and response are showing it’s unquestioned that the fans have spoken and they don’t like it.

All this remains to be seen, of course, so keep it locked to COGconnected for more info as we have it.
