United Front Games Has Apparently Closed Its Doors

United Front Games Has Potentially Called It Quits

In a rather disappointing rumor, there’s word that independent studio United Front Games has apparently closed its doors, according to users at NeoGAF. It’s worrying news, to say the least, but a few factors could help cement this as truth, rather than mere conjecture. Read on for more details of this developing story.

Smash+Grab

It’s always disappointing to hear that a studio is potentially closing its doors, but in the case with United Front Games, there is some solid evidence to back this up, unfortunately. Upcoming title Smash + Grab is now no longer able to be purchased on Steam, as you can see in the store page link right here. Further cementing this rumor is the removal of the item entirely from SteamDB, which you can see in this link. Seeing it removed from SteamDB’s essentially indication enough, but a closure of a studio is certainly something that we’d like to confirm with them, rather than just listen to what we find on a message board. NeoGAF is pretty spot on, however, and aren’t a source to simply wave aside.

United Front was poised to release Smash + Grab, their upcoming multiplayer title, which we actually found fairly enjoyable when we tried it way back at PAX. We had high hopes for the game, as Sleeping Dogs was downright fantastic, but it seems with the titles removal from the Steam store that we just may have to commit this one to the annals of history. We’ll be sure to update this story with any more information, but we are sad to see United Front Games go, if this rumor ends up being true.

We’ll eat a pork bun in your memory, United Front Games.
