Video Game Voice Actor Strike Reveals a Ton of Unannounced Games
If you’ve been following along with current events in gaming you’ll know that SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents voice actors and stunt performers, has been in negotiations with developers for a new contract since February of 2015. As of this morning, the union has issued a full strike against game developers and along with the strike they also published a list of current projects that their members were no longer allowed to work on.
The list contained many games we knew were coming, many games we can assume were coming, and a few games we had no idea were coming. Games like WB’s Injustice 2 for example which we knew was coming and EA’s NHL 18 which we can of course assume is coming. Some of the surprises though include Lego Marvel 2 and Brothers in Arms.
The list is extensive, featuring a glut of mobile games and also a large number of games that are identified only by code names so far. Take-Two has project ‘Alligator’, EA has a bunch of games with code names like ‘Odin’, ‘Fearless’, ‘Scorpion’, and ‘Timbits’. If you’re Canadian you know you’re wondering what the hell EA is doing making a video game about donuts.
Many of the games on the list are games that have been announced and that are a good way into the development process too. The aforementioned Injustice 2 and Crash Bandicoot Remastered are on there. We can only hope that a fair and equitable agreement is reached soon or else we might see significant delays to may of our most anticipated games.
