Rocksteady Developed Suicide Squad Game Leaked, New Batman Game as Well

A few months back there were reports that WB had a couple games in the works based on two of DC Comics’ best-known franchises, Suicide Squad and a new Batman take. It made sense with Suicide Squad seeing a theatrical release and heck, no need to make an excuse for a new Bats game, right? E3 came and went, as did Gamescom and PAX West but still there was no news… until now.

New information released on NeoGAF by user Kenzodielocke (who was actually vetted by GAF mods) reveals that not only are these rumors true (as true as rumors can be, of course) but one of the games is actually well along its development cycle.

Suicide Squad

According to the source,  WB Montreal, a more than 500 person operation who helped on Batman: Arkham Origins, is hard at work on both of the games. Even better news is the fact that Rocksteady is in with the assist on Suicide Squad. Being touted as a brawler type title set in a semi-open world it is said that Suicide Squad is heavily Borderlands inspired with a big focus on co-op action. The leak goes on to say that players will have a full roster of characters to choose from who will level up and become more powerful through a tiered reward structure. He finishes off by saying it’s looking at a 2017 release.

As for Batman, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer because it’s just ramping up into production now. Set a good way into the future Bruce Wayne is old, bearded and walks with a cane and a leg brace. He has mentored his son, Damian Wayne to follow in his footsteps as the new Batman. Cameos and other characters involved are said to be Dick Grayson, a female Black Mask, Flamingo, Poison Ivy and an aged White Rabbit.

While it’s never certain that rumors like this are true it’s also rare that information like this pops up unless there’s at least a fraction of reality to it. For now, we have to wait and see what WB and DC have in store but we’ll be doing so with as much excitement as a fat kid waiting on cake.
