PlayStation Event Scheduled For Next Month
This past weekend we reported a rumour that Sony would reveal the PlayStation Neo during a special event being held in New York on Wednesday, September 7. Today, Sony confirmed that rumour to be true.
Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed today that a “PlayStation Meeting” event will be held at the PlayStation Theater in New York at 3PM Eastern Time on September 7th. The invitations to the event do not reference the upcoming PS4 Neo specifically, but rather it is just generic information on the PlayStation Business. This being said, we believe the Neo will be revealed at the event and would be shocked if it wasn’t.
Regardless, it should be interesting to see if the new console will match the rumoured specs and price point. Back in June, a report was floating around that the Neo will have a smart design which allows developers to scale their games accordingly on the PS4 and Neo. The developers apparently “love” the boost in the GPU and just like the Xbox One Scorpio it will be up to them whether they want to scale up already released games on the Neo. It was also said that the Neo will also have a 4K Blu Ray drive which could mean games will at least be upscaled to 4K resolution.
