Pokemon Go Players Entering Dangerous Territory
It’s not the first time it’s happened. The popular AR game Pokemon Go is proving to present some interesting dilemmas to players. Is it really worth wandering to that Hell’s Angels Clubhouse to try and find that Pikachu? Apparently so. It’s also apparently worth wandering into landfills, and walking near containers containing dangerous waste products. Gotta catch ’em all, right?
Yorkshire-based business BusinessWase.co.uk has found they are facing a steady increase of incidents involving people trespassing or risking their own personal safety. They have had to issue warnings to players of all in ages in an attempt to help curtail the risks that come with wandering a landfill.
“Pokemon Go is a huge step in mobile gaming which combines an imaginary world with the real one,” says BusinessWaste.co.uk spokesperson Mark Hall, “But players seem to think they are immortal in both, and that’s where the trouble starts. In many respects, the game is extraordinary and appeals to both adults and kids, with whole families getting outdoors to hunt for their imaginary quarry, and that’s a very good thing. But it is not without its risks,” Hall continues. Frankly, it’s not all that surprising considering just how big the game is, but you think people would be taking their own personal safety just a bit more seriously.
Pokemon Go has been massively popular, but the game poses a number of safety risks, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down, much like the game’s meteoric rise in popularity. Don’t get us wrong, it’s great to see how people have bonded over the game, but you should be putting your own safety at a priority, rather than risk long-lasting injury in an attempt to catch them all. This game isn’t going away any time soon, so there’s plenty of time to catch ’em all. Except disease and injury. Nobody wants to catch those.
Stay safe, Pokemon Masters.
