Police Issue Warning After Pokemon GO Gym Is Located at Hells Angels Clubhouse

Pokemon Gym Located Outside Hells Angels Clubhouse

The Pokemon GO craze continues. Last week we saw reports of game-related crimes, and a distracted driver smashing into a cop car. Today, we learned a Pokemon GO gym has been spotted just outside a British Columbia Hells Angels clubhouse. This has police and city officials concerned.

The Hells Angels Vancouver chapter clubhouse is drawing Pokemon GO players, including children, to its location, and authorities are urging the public to use caution.

“We’ve heard stories of Pokemon gyms and PokeStops being inappropriate not only here in Canada but around the world. There are spots in the game that are inappropriate,” said staff sergeant Lindsay Houghton of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.

It is no secret the Hells Angels are a motorcycle gang with some members having links to criminal activity.

Though they haven’t received any complaints directly, Houghton says Hells Angels spokesperson Rick Ciarniello has said the location was “inappropriate.”

The Coquitlam clubhouse is the base of the Vancouver Chapter of the biker gang, which is one of the three oldest. It was founded on July 23, 1983.

In the game, players are encouraged to gather at Pokemon “gyms” to battle each other.

Several other locations in the game have received outrage, including a stop at Auschwitz.
