Techland Stepping Into Publishing Role

Techland Making Jump From Developer To Publisher

Techland’s CEO, Pawel Marchewka recently announced that the company was tossing its hat into the publishing side of the industry. Having created a number of titles that did well commercially, such as Dying Light, Dead Island, and Call of Juarez, the company is opting to the take the next step in the evolution of their company. They will now be going under the moniker of Techland Publishing.

Dying Light: The Following

Techland has worked with a number of renowned publishers since the studio’s inception, and they feel the next best choice for them is to help other studios achieve the success they have maintained themselves. They’re aiming to adopt a very flexible stance towards developing titles, hoping to continue to build upon the respect they have garnered from players all over the world. Techland also plans to encourage and financially support developers through creating games that aim to be bold and unconventional, shaking up the industry in ways never seen before.

The company’s long-term plans are to maintain a steady release schedule of titles, with at least 2 major multiplatform titles, along with 4 sold via digital distribution. Certainly a brisk schedule, to say the least! Techland has been actively scanning the market for this sort of opportunity, and they feel like now is the perfect time for them to being helping bolster the industry even further.

Techland has a storied history of development, having been in the industry for over 20 years. They’ve also already got prior experience in the publishing and distribution side of things although that was strictly within Central and Eastern Europe. They plan to help extend their presence on a global scale, much like the zombie plagues in some of their most popular titles. If their recent successes are any indicator, we think that Techland will be publishing some quality stuff in the near future!
