Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Spews Onto Xbox One and PS4 Today

Binding of Isaac Gets Substantially Sickening Amount Of Content With Afterbirth Expansion

While PC fans have gotten their grubby little mitts on the Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth expansion already, PS4 and Xbox One fans have been left eagerly chomping at the bit for the meaty expansion to slither their way. The immensely popular title from Nicalis is a top down shooter with rogue-like elements and a variety of insane weapon combinations and disgustingly designed enemies. It’s a simple formula that is surprisingly deep, due to the various item synergies, and it’s quite possible that no run will ever be the same.

Binding of Isaac Afterbirth Hero

Each foray into the Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth will yield different results, with enemies, items, room layouts and rewards changing every single run. Some runs will be cripplingly difficult, and others will have you so over-powered you will literally one-shot Satan. Afterbirth is an old-school example of the way DLC should be handled, and here are the features you can expect:

– Over 100 hours of MORE gameplay
– Greed Mode – a whole new way to play, focused on risk/reward and amassing as much coin as possible!
– Expanded main game – a new final area with a new final boss
– Daily Runs – play a new official run, everyday!
– Online Leaderboards – compete for highscore/best time
– 10 totally new and awesome challenges!
– 1000+ new room designs
– MONSTROUSLY UPDATED WEAPON COMBO SYSTEM!
– 120 new items-not counting tons of new pickups, chests, pills, bombs and cards-taking the item count up beyond 500!
– Alternate soundtrack!
– New secret transformations!

Uber secrets including:
– Lilith, the mother of demons, a totally new playable character
– 4 new alternate chapters with new enemy types and visual themes
– Revised seed code combo system and new special seeds  with some bizarre mutators
– 100+ enemies, with new designs and variations
– 8 new bosses sure to kick your ass

Fans on Xbox One and PS4 can pick up the expansion today for $10.99, but there is still no word on if Vita or 3DS versions will be pumped out the pipeline. Fans on Wii U can expect a version to shake loose within the coming months, however for a similar price point.

As of writing, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is live on both the PSN store and Xbox Marketplace, so go throw your cash down Nicalis’ throats, as they deserve it for making such a substantial game for such a low price.
