Romero and Carmack’s BLACKROOM Cancelled on Kickstarter

BLACKROOM Cancelled Only a Week Into its Campaign

Last week we brought you news that John Romero and Adrian Carmack, creators of gaming classics such as DOOM, Wolfenstein, and Quake were back together again to develop BLACKROOM. The project launched on Kickstarter to mediocre response overall. Well it seems that Romero and Carmack have reconsidered their crowd funding campaign with the Kickstarter being cancelled only a couple hours ago (as of April 29th at 9am PST).

No word as to why the campaign has suddenly been stopped, but we can’t imagine it will be too long before we hear something. At the time of cancellation the campaign had raised $131,052 out of a $700K goal, with a total of 2287 backers.

BLACKROOM Screen alley way

Something tells us that this isn’t the last we’re hearing of BLACKROOM, and perhaps the developers would like to pull back until they have a bit more to show. We’ll keep you updated as we follow the story.
