Sega has just announced that Total War: Warhammer will launch a month later than originally planned. The strategy game was supposed to launch on April 28th, but now will be launching May 24th.
The game’s Creative Director, Mike Simpson explained the rationale for the delay in a Press Release. “This could be the best Total War game we’ve ever made. We don’t want to rush it,” he said.
He went on to say that “it’s an enormous game and we also want to make absolutely sure reviewers have enough time to play it thoroughly before launch. Many thanks to the huge number of people who have pre-ordered and are eagerly awaiting release day. We’re pulling out all the stops for you.”
One of the implied reasons behind the delay is the fact that Total War: Warhammer is shaping up to be a massive time-sink (SEGA promises “hundreds of hours” of content), and a graphical juggernaut. Here are the PC system requirements, courtesy of the dev team:
