Ed Greenwood is perhaps best known as the creator of one of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise’s most well known worlds, Forgotten Realms. We’re talking about a world that has been the setting for favorite games like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights to name just a few. Now he’s the man behind a new action adventure, Mages of Mystralia from Borealys Games in which you can actually design your very own spells. Dan Adelman, former head of all things indie for 9 years at Nintendo of America, and currently the business side of Axiom Verge and Chasm, is also deeply involved.
Of course the rest of the team at Borealys are no slouches either as many are veterans who have been involved in everything from the Assassin’s Creed series to Far Cry and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
In Mages of Mystralia, you play as Zia, a young girl who discovers that she has been born with an innate ability to work magic. Unfortunately, magic has been banned by the Marquis, so Zia sets off to train on her own and learn control over her magic. On her journey, she encounters danger, but discovers mysterious magical runes—and soon realizes she can combine them in many different ways to craft completely new spells! But Mystralia is in peril; will she master enough magic in time?
