A new infographic highlighting the 12 eidolons, or “summon beasts” that appear in SQUARE ENIX’s upcoming action role-playing adventure FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS was released today. The title includes a variety of unique and memorable eidolons from the FINAL FANTASY series, including Bahamut, Ifrit and Ramuh, as well as two brand-new eidolons, the flower-like Dryad and the mysterious Amaterasu.
In FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS, adventurers can battle the 12 eidolons solo or in a party of up to four players. Once players defeat an eidolon, they are apparently granted the ability to summon them in battle while in Trance Mode, a temporary ability where players can also transform into other legendary characters from the FINAL FANTASY series.
The developers tell us that after the main story is completed, players looking for a challenge will have the opportunity to battle “aberrant versions” of each eidolon, which are significantly tougher in battle than their original counterparts and feature a different design.
In case you are new to the title, here is a description of the game’s story, courtesy of Square Enix:
“The world is on the brink of war over its reserves of crystals, the planet’s chief source of power. Players must band together to form an elite squad of Explorers on an island rich in crystals, braving hordes of monsters in hopes of conquering a newly discovered Grand Crystal – every Explorer’s dream.”
FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS will be available for $39.99 on Jan. 26, 2016, for Nintendo 3DS. Limited quantities of the Collector’s Edition will be sold through the Square Enix Online Store for $69.99.
