According to an ancient Japanese proverb, one of the most important things a Yakuza must know is how to beat peopleโs faces to a pulp. Or something like that โ my Japanese is a bit fuzzy. But the point is, in Segaโs Yakuza series, weโre talking about brutal, bloody and no-holds-barred street fighting. Kiryu and Saejima didnโt get street cred by adopting puppies and saving the trees, they got it by beating the ever-living crap out of everyone who dared stand in their way. You feel me? (Oh, wait, Kazuma Kiryu did run an orphanage. But still, my point still standsโฆ)
In Yakuza 5, each protagonist possesses unique fighting styles, skills, and upgradeable special abilities that give them an upper hand when challenged to fisticuffs (or dance battles in Harukaโs case). Oh, did I mention there are weapons too? It wouldnโt be a good street fight if pliers, wooden swords, street signs, and bicycles werenโt involved in the action. Though you may want to cover your eyes when you see what they do with pliersโฆyowch.
Check out these new screens, which illustrate perfectly what Iโm talking about. Full of the jaw-shattering action that has made Yakuza great, they convey well how much awesomeness we can expect from the next Yakuza.
