There is a sequel in the works for Disney’s 2012 animated video game-themed movie Wreck-It Ralph.
It was confirmed by none other than lead voice actor John C. Reilly, who said in a recent interview on Irish radio that he has “signed on” for Wreck-It Ralph 2.
Hollywood news site The Wrap has pointed out that Disney has not yet officially confirmed the movie, though director of the original, Rich Moore, has talked about it.
In a December 2012 interview, Moore said he would like Nintendo’s Mario to feature in a sequel. The first movie featured appearances from the likes of Bowser, Dr. Robotnik, and Pac-Man.
Wreck-It Ralph was an animated movie released in 2012 that featured a protagonist (played by Reilly) who is tired of being the Donkey-Kong-like bad guy, and goes on a journey to find himself.
It was a big hit, making close to $50 million during its first weekend. To date, the film has made more than $470 million with a cost of $165 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
