Tekken X Street Fighter Not Cancelled, Says Namco

In 2010, Bandai Namco and Capcom announced a cross-over between Tekken and Street Fighter. However, since that announcement, all has been silent with Tekken X Street Fighter, leaving some to speculate that the game may be in trouble.

This fear only seemed to be confirmed when no release date was given for the game this year. But, in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, game producer Katsuhiro Harada insisted that development is in progress and the game will one day be released.

“I’ve been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we’re at a pretty far stage into its development,” said Harada, adding “it might seem like we haven’t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago. And we’ve already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems.”

This seems like good news to all the fans of both franchises who have been waiting patiently to see Asuka beat Chun-Li senseless (or vice versa).  Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
