Today, it was reported in GamePolitics that Avalanche Studios, the company working on the Mad Max game based on the movie Mad Max: Fury Road, announced that they have appointed a new CEO. Pim Holfve will take the helm at the company effective immediately.
This appointment can only be good for the Mad Max game. The development team have been working hard to bring this game to market, and word that they now have a stable leadership behind them can only help them achieve this.
Holfve’s appointment is good also because he is from the company and not an outsider. He had been VP of Business Development at the company prior to his latest appointment. Prior to working at Avalanche, Holfve was at King and Electronic Arts, where he worked mostly in free-to-play games. Holfve knows the company, and that will hopefully be good. One thing that is crucial to developing a good game is that the dev team has stability at the corporate level. With a constant changing of corporate faces, games often get lost in the shuffle.
Avalanche Studios, known for its action game series Just Cause, is respected for high-quality gaming. Let’s hope it continues this tradition with the Mad Max game. The Mad Max game will be published by Warner Bros., and Just Cause 3 will be published by Square-Enix. Both games are due to be released in 2015.
