After Amazon leaked the new, cheaper Xbox One, Microsoft has officially announced the new price drop for the 500GB model, along with the new Xbox One controller. This is huge news for anyone still on the fence about which console to buy. In fact, it could change the game in the war between Xbox One and PS4.
Starting today, the standard 500GB Xbox One model will be permanently available for $349. We have seen in the past, that when Xbox One’s price was dropped, it beat the PS4 in sales. For example, in December, 2014, Xbox notably got a rare victory in the sales war when it temporarily dropped its price. That win promptly vanished when the price was put back up.
Now, with a permanent price cut, we could very well see a shift over to Xbox One from PS4. History has shown that consumers still have a lot of love for Microsoft’s console, and with HALO still on the horizon, the time is ripe to buy an Xbox One. I do believe that Xbox One will slowly see a rise in sales in the next year, as consumers start to see the benefits of the system at the new price.
Only time will tell if the console war indeed has a new chapter!
