Conan Exiles is Rich, Barbaric and Dripping With Potential

Conan Exiles Hands-On Video Preview

Considering the rich, barbaric, but – most importantly – popular franchise that has become an influential cult classic, you would expect to see more video games carrying the Conan banner.2008’s Age of Conan was the last time we delved into this world, a literal decade ago, so Conan Exiles has the freedom to not only expand on its predecessor but bring the franchise to new places and a new audience. While the game is still in its early access stages, it does seem to be dripping with potential beneath the waves of blood. Having a strong reliance on crafting might seem out of place in a title like this, but developer Funcom seems to have struck the right balance to deliver a unique experience. Want to know more? Conan Exiles is an open world survival game with both single-player and multiplayer options. Players will create their own custom character and follow their journey to build a new home and discover the reason for their exile, all while trying to live off the land and defend against other players and horrible creatures alike. The game is expected to receive updates for added content, such as new biomes to explore which will add a host of new content, but following this model could prove to be the games downfall as the base game – as it stands – doesn’t seem to offer players much in the way of a compelling narrative, something that the Conan series requires.

Conan Exiles is set for launch May 8th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but the game is currently available in Early Access on Steam. For more information, check out the game’s official website.
