New Zelda Art Book Will Be Another Nintendo/Dark Horse Collaboration
A hardcover companion art book for the award-winning The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been announced by Dark Horse. It is slated to launch on November 20th, 2018 and will retail for $39.99.
The collector’s edition, which is called The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Creating a Champion, is meant to be the perfect coffee table book. It features an incredible 424 pages and will contain material from the original game as well as its two DLC packs.
The tome includes nearly 50 pages of sketches and illustrations from Takumi Wada (who also designed the book’s cover), 296 pages of design artwork and commentary on the creation of the game, and 55 pages of detailed Hyrule history as it is known in-game. There will also be key interviews with the development team including Hidemaro Fujibayashi, Satoru Takizawa, Takumi Wada, and Eiji Aonuma.
This isn’t the first time Nintendo and Dark Horse have teamed up. The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia launched in 2013 to fan fame for including, for the first time, a series timeline up to Skyward Sword. It was followed up by Art & Artifacts and the Zelda Encyclopedia. Outside of the Zelda franchise, the two companies have also published The Art of Splatoon and The Art of Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Creating a Champion is also a localization of the Breath of the Wild Master Works volume that was published only in Japan by Nintendo.
