We May See a Lot of Bodies in Cyberpunk 2077
A new trailer has been crafted Cyberpunk 2077, which CD Projekt RED has in a safe somewhere. According to the brain matter behind the Cyberpunk Tabletop RPG, Mike Pondsmith, some meaty new footage is on the way. Whether it will include gameplay or not is unclear, but according to him, it will show the gritty side of the IP.
As Pondsmith stated, a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 will show us “how much death” there is. Some gritty visuals will be prominent since CDPR is hard at work painting a dystopian world that stays true to the story originally penned. This all stems from a new interview with a curious outlet, Spanish newspaper El Pais. In the Spanish translation, available via the miracle of Reddit, Pondsmith details the backdrop to the story of Cyberpunk.
As relayed by Pondsmith, Cyberpunk 2077 incorporates a gapped society where only the top 1% controls advanced weapons technology. After new technology reaches the hands of the bottom, people rise up against the wealthy and cities witness havoc. To further entangle the dystopian state of the world, the detrimental effects of climate change are persistent. Among the hazardous weather effects, we may witness, are floodings.
“When I wrote Cyberpunk, there were sections in which we focused on talking about the floods because of climate change and at that time we thought it was not possible for it to happen. It will be very interesting because the problems that I was inventing or extrapolating to the game will become the main problems in 20 or 30 years.”
Since some things do tend to get lost in translation, it would be sensible to take this interview with a minute grain of salt. But, the picture Pondsmith has painted for Cyberpunk 2077 sounds miraculous for an open-world RPG. Let’s hope CD Projekt RED pulls if off.
