The Xbox One X Will Run Xbox 360 Games at Native 4K

No, I’m Not Joking. Play Old Games with Crazy Graphics

We’ve just received news that the powerful Xbox One X will have enough power to make last-gen games run at native 4K.

According to someone up high, an Xbox executive by the name of Albert Penello, old games will run like current-gen games on the powerhouse console. To be precise, Penello confirmed on Twitter that Xbox 360 games will run at 2160p resolution.

The way it works is the Xbox One X juices up the resolution of Xbox 360 games by 9x the normal amount. This triples the actual number. So, say a game runs at 720p resolution; the 4K console will thus triple that amount and make it run at native 4K. In other words, HD titles we played in the past will become 4K titles today.

Original Xbox games will also see enhancements, as we were hoping for. The Xbox One X bumps up their resolution by 16x. Ultimately this leads to 4x the number, upgrading 480 to a 1920p game. Furthermore, the Xbox One S will sport similar upgrades for classic titles, but, understandably, not to the same extent as the Xbox One X. Nevertheless, fans of Backward Compatibility will gain even more out of the new console when it arrives. Time to build a bucket list of games you would like to play in 4K.

We’re very close to the release of Microsoft’s new console, which arrives on November 7th, but be sure to check back for updates until then and beyond.

Happy gaming.
