EA Predicts PS4 and Xbox One Sales Will Reach 105 Million Units Sold This Year

Earlier today Electronic Arts held their quarterly conference call where they revealed some interesting details over the past fiscal year. During this call Blake Jorgensen, Chief Financial Officer, provided an estimate for the install base of current generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, by the end of 2017!

Jorgensen stated that EA expects the sales of the PS4 and Xbox One to continue to be very strong, shooting past 105 million units between the two consoles. This is the number they expect to pass by the end of this year, which is up significantly from the 79 million units combined from 2016!

It should be noted that CEO Andrew Wilson commented on this further clarifying that this prediction does not include Nintendo Switch sales. He states that the amount of Switch consoles that are purchased over the course of this year will be added to the total estimated number. On top of EA’s prediction, Blake Jorgensen said that they expect PC gaming sales to decline slightly, while mobile sales continue to grow.
